Hillsdale FD Handles Working Fire in 2 1/2 Story Residential

This morning, at 0511 hours, the Hillsdale Fire Department was dispatched to a house under construction with visible smoke showing, this dispatch automatically brings Truck 7 from the Woodcliff Lake FD. Deputy 3 arrived on scene confirming a working fire in a 2 1/2 story residence and transmitted the working fire assignment, adding a RIT from Old Tappan, an Engine from River Vale, and a Truck from Westwood.

Engine 34's crew stretched a hand line in and up the stairs of the split level home. They quickly located that the floor on the 2nd floor had burned through. The fire was knocked down in less than 15 minutes, and placed under control at 0541. There were no injuries reported, and all units were placed back in service at 0633.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the borough's Fire Marshal and assisted by HPD’s detective. All questions should be directed to the Chief of Department.
