Last night at 20:17, the HFD was dispatched to a reported deck fire. 27 Car 1 (Chief Schuster) arrived in under 4 minutes and confirmed a fire in a 1 1/2 story wood frame with fire showing from the delta side. The working fire assignment was requested bringing units from Station 43, 53, 67, & 68.

27 Engine 1 arrived on scene while 27 Car 2 (DC Farrell) and 27-3 (Capt. Kelley) performed a primary search with an initial report of people trapped, with searches coming back negative and confirming everyone was out of the house. The crew, led by 27-8 (Lt. Voorhis) had a handline stretched with water on the fire in under 45 seconds. Crews from 27 Truck, 27 Engine 2, and 27 Rescue vented the roof, stretched a 2nd handline, and assisted with overhaul. 53 Engine 1, 43 Squad, 67 Truck, and 68 Truck assisted on scene as well.

The fire was knocked by 20:34 and deemed under control at 20:37. There were no reported injuries to the residents or any firefighters on scene.

While cleanup was underway, 43 Squad and 43 Car 2 were assigned to a call for an odor of gas in our district. As our units arrived back at Station 27, HFD was requested to respond to a CO alarm on the east side of town. Readings were found in the home, the source was isolated, and the home vented.

The cause is currently under investigation by the Hillsdale Fire Marshal.
